Exciting things are happening nearby!
Microsoft has opened a quantum research center in Riverdale Park’s Discovery District, where researchers and technology partners will develop and test the equipment behind quantum computers. The goal is to move this emerging technology closer to practical use. The center will also feature a hands-on training space where learners can gain experience with real quantum equipment. Alongside the opening, Microsoft is funding research positions at the University of Maryland and launching annual research workshops—strengthening our area’s growing quantum community and creating new opportunities for research, learning, and collaboration.
