Friends Community School: Space Available in Select Grades
Exploring school options?
Get to know Friends Community School. FCS still has a few spaces available in select grades for the upcoming school year (Fall 2026), and will kick off the 2027-2028 admissions process in September. If you are interested in considering FCS for your child, contact the Admissions Office or submit an inquiry to learn more.
Friends Community School is a K-8 Quaker progressive school that engages and inspires young children through adolescence. Located on 17 wooded acres in College Park, FCS is a vibrant and nurturing community with strong Quaker roots, a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and community, and a curriculum that emphasizes child-centered and hands-on learning. FCS students are well on their way to becoming lifelong learners, courageous risk-takers, and joyous peacemakers who matriculate to rigorous independent, parochial, and public magnet schools.
On any given day at FCS, you’ll witness the many ways learning and growing happen inside and outside the classroom. Kindergarten students discover story elements through puppet show performances and dive into math while baking with pumpkin, while others in the Lower School explore subitizing and place value in math, investigate the recycling habits of our community, learn about key economic concepts through a bartering simulation, rehearse for a musical performance, practice mapping and cardinal directions, and study the guinea fowl that roam the grounds. Middle Schoolers, meanwhile, engage in Digital Citizenship lessons, refine their annotation, writing, and debate skills, discuss the importance of integrity, conduct experiments in one of our science labs, and grow and deepen their leadership skills.
